Woman airlifted after falling from horse in mustering incident

The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital, following a horse riding incident in the Maranoa region.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was mustering cattle when the horse she was riding was startled by something in the grass, and threw her off.

The helicopter was tasked just before 4.30pm (Wed 13th April).

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) personnel were already on scene, treating the patient, when the aeromedical crew arrived.

The patient was flown to Roma in a stable condition with injuries to her ribs and back.

The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
