RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts injured farmer after horse fall

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown an injured farmer to hospital after he fell from a horse, on a property in the Gympie region, this morning.

It’s believed he had been mustering when the horse was spooked and threw him off.

No one was nearby at the time of the accident, so he reached for his mobile phone and called for help.

The aircraft was tasked just before 11am (Sat 21st Aug).

The pilot was able to land the rescue chopper close to the scene.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic worked with other QAS paramedics at the scene, to treat the man for a suspected spinal injury.

The man, aged in his sixties, was then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition.
