RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts child after being crushed by a trailer

A child has been airlifted to hospital by the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter, after he was crushed by a trailer on a farm, in the Southern Downs.

It’s believed the boy had been standing on a cattle yard gate, when a trailer which was carrying water over-balanced, pinning the boy between the trailer and the gate.

The rescue chopper was called into action shortly before 11:45am (Sun 22nd Aug).

The pilot was able to land the chopper near a farm house on the property.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) was first on scene, before the rescue chopper arrived.

The aeromedical crew worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the primary school aged boy for multiple injuries, including to his head and back.

He was airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition, accompanied by his mother.
