Man rescue-winched by LifeFlight from Scenic Rim

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew yesterday rescue-winched a man who became stranded while hiking in the Scenic Rim region.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 5pm to the scene on Mt Barney.

It is believed the hiker aged in his 20s was 600 metres from the summit and was unable to descend before his friends raised the alarm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic was lowered down to the man near a rocky outcrop where he was assessed before being winched into the helicopter.

He was flown to Archerfield Airport and did not require medical treatment.
