Man airlifted after two-vehicle head-on collision

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a man to hospital this morning after a head-on collision in the Noosa region.

The vehicle the man was driving collided with a utility heading in the opposite direction of the highway.

It is believed the man driving the utility swerved to avoid hitting a kangaroo.

The LifeFlight crew landed the chopper on the road, which had been closed to traffic by Queensland Police Service (QPS).

The multi-agency mission included Queensland Fire Department, Queensland Ambulance Service and QPS.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic worked alongside Queensland Fire Department (QFD) crews and local QAS paramedics to treat the injured patients.

A man, aged in his 20s, was treated for serious leg, pelvic and facial injuries.

He was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition with critical injuries.
