LifeFlight airlifts man after farm machinery accident

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter has flown an injured man to hospital, after he was trapped by the hand in machinery for several hours.

It’s believed he tried to call for help but was faced with poor phone coverage, on the farm south-west of Kingaroy.

He eventually managed to contact authorities through an emergency function on his phone.

The helicopter was tasked to the scene just after 1.30 this afternoon (Friday 28 January).

Emergency service personnel worked together to free the man’s hand, which had been seriously injured.

The patient, aged in his 20s, was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, under the care of the aeromedical team.

He was in a stable condition.

The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
