Help us go further and faster for North West Queensland. As the needs of the communities we serve continue to evolve so too does our need to provide a new aeromedical facility to the people of Mount Isa and surrounding regions.
*All donations over $2 are tax-deductible. At the LifeFlight Foundation (ABN: 63 618 170 184), we use Payments2Us and Ezidebit so your donations are secure. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
The new Mount Isa Base will increase LifeFlight’s ability to respond to
more rescues across the region.
The base will address functional and operational issues that will
help our crews meet the increasing demand. Featuring hangar capacity for an upgraded helicopter, the purpose-built facility will enable more efficient delivery of quality training to local crew and external parties and support the additional regional emergency service helicopter operations (ambulance, firefighting and/or police).
We need your help today so that we can continue to provide world class aeromedical services and emergency response to the people of North West Queensland and beyond, whenever they need us.

The establishment of the new Mount Isa base will transform critical care delivery in North West Queensland. This strategic expansion will elevate the standard of emergency medical services across the region, while improving operational efficiencies during time-critical missions.
Optimise the ongoing and future delivery of services to the community from the Mount Isa base
Address functional and operational issues that will help our crew meeting the increasing demand in the region
Deliver infrastructure that provides suitable accommodation for crew in an appropriate location, improving quality and length of regulated rest periods
Provide access to multi-purpose briefing, meeting and administration workspaces on-site for staff and volunteers
The AW139 will be replacing LifeFlight’s BK117 as we move to a single fleet operation for the Queensland Health funded service. The AW139 helicopter is the premier standard for Medical Transport Operations (MTO) and Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopters used throughout the world and Australia in particular.
When minutes matter, speed matters. The AW139 covers the distance faster and has greater range than a BK117, currently used at the existing Mount Isa base. The AW139 can cover approx. 500 km in 2 hours of flying.
Higher standard of critical care to North West Queensland
Increased operational efficiencies when every second counts
Capacity for an upgraded helicopter, an AW139
