The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a teenage boy after the quad bike he was driving rolled off a track and plunged down a ten metre embankment.

The aeromedical team was tasked to a private property north west of Gympie at around 11:30am.

The pilot landed the aircraft in a paddock close to the scene.

The patient was treated by local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor for a broken leg.

He was flown to the Sunshine Coast and transferred by QAS to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
