"LifeFlight, I reckon
saved my life."

When Clive Weier recently met LifeFlight’s Critical Care Doctor Daniel Bundock for the first time since his rescue, the 88-year-old farmer had one thing to say: ‘I can’t believe it – I get to shake your hand.’

Just months earlier, Clive had lost his right forearm in a farming accident at his property in Mondure – a very long way from the nearest hospital. His son and neighbor reacted fast, but the local ambulance crew knew that Clive risked bleeding out on a lengthy road transfer. They called LifeFlight.

The LifeFlight crew arrived at the scene and Dr Bundock took swift action to stabilise Clive and prepare him for the flight, providing pain relief and taking over his breathing. Instead of the 2.5 hour drive to Toowoomba, they flew him straight to specialised trauma care and emergency surgery in Brisbane within 40 minutes.

Today Clive is back on his farm doing what he loves – and deeply grateful to Dr Dan and the crew that saved his life.

Thanks to LifeFlight, Ava
is back in the saddle

When 15-year old Ava St Henry was thrown from her horse and into a steel fence at a campdrafting event near Mulgildie, the paramedics already on scene knew immediately she needed specialist care beyond what a regional hospital could provide.

LifeFlight was called, and the crew met Ava at the Monto Hospital helipad. After a thorough assessment, Critical Care Doctor Aaron Quay made the call to fly her directly to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane – a decision that proved critical to her survival. Ava’a internal injuries were very serious, requiring complex and highly specialised surgery that was only available in Brisbane. She spent four months in hospital recovering.

Ava still has a long road of recovery ahead, with hospital visits continuing for years to come. But her determination has never wavered – she’s back in the saddle and working towards returning to competition.

‘LifeFlight saved our daughter’s life,’ says her mum, Gina. ‘We are very thankful that they were there.’

LifeFlight is more than a service – it’s an essential part of Queensland’s helicopter health network and our way of life. With more than 180 of our Critical Care Doctors working across the state, our helicopters are ready to deliver ICU-level care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no matter how remote the location.

We receive funding from the Queensland Government to deliver our core aeromedical service. But to ensure a Critical Care Doctor can be on board every mission – for every Clive, every Ava, and every Queensland who needs us – we rely on the generosity of supporters like you.

Your tax-deductible gift before 30 June will help ensure our doctors are always ready to respond, wherever they’re needed most.

Target: $1 million

We know that $1 million is a significant amount. To raise it, we’ll need to pull together – just as Queenslanders have always done. Everyone in our state deserves 24/7 access to the ICU-level pre-hospital care our doctors provide, but without this funding, our ability to do so is at risk.

Increased rostering

With a critical care doctor onboard more flights, we can ensure the best outcome for more patients in need of ICU-level care.

Training

Our medical teams undergo constant training to make sure they are up-to-date with the latest life-saving medical procedures.

Tools and resources

Providing ICU-level care 24/7 means we’ll need more state-of-the-art equipment at the ready, in top condition, at all times.

ICU level care, anywhere
