The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew tonight winched a man from a cruise ship after he sustained injuries during a fall.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 9.07pm by Retrieval Services Queensland to the cruise ship 20 nautical miles off the Fraser Coast.
The critical care Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic and LifeFlight rescue crew officer were winched down to the vessel.
The QAS flight paramedic assessed and treated the patient for head injuries, and he was then winched into the helicopter.
The man, in his 70s, was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
