LifeFlight air ambulance team completes 10 international missions in nine days
LifeFlight’s fixed-wing air ambulance team completed 10 missions across 11 countries and territories in just nine days, travelling more than 100,000 kilometres from bases in Brisbane, Townsville and Singapore.
The nine-day period showcased the scale and flexibility of LifeFlight’s international air ambulance operation, with simultaneous missions spanning the Pacific, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
Patients were transported from locations including Noumea, Suva, Ulaanbaatar, Washington DC, Bali and Darwin, while teams coordinated complex international patient transfers and medical repatriations, ranging from neonatal and cardiac patients to long-range missions.
Coordinating international air ambulance missions
A dedicated operations team managed every mission through a single coordination centre and centralised roster, ensuring seamless crew rotations, regulatory compliance and continuity of care across multiple time zones.
Among the week’s standout missions was a long-range aeromedical retrieval from Brisbane to Washington DC, requiring international clearances and crew changes across the Pacific.
Another mission involved a medical transfer from Mongolia to Tasmania, drawing on LifeFlight’s extensive experience operating in remote and challenging environments.
More than 100,000 kilometres in nine days
The achievement reflects more than a busy week in the air. It highlights the strength of LifeFlight’s integrated fleet, experienced crews and around-the-clock operations capability, enabling the organisation to deliver safe, responsive aeromedical care wherever it is needed.
