The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today airlifted a man to hospital after he was injured in a machinery incident in the Sunshine Coast region.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland to a private property at 1:40pm and landed in a paddock near the scene.
It’s believed a man in his 50s was using a meat grinder when his right hand was caught in the machine.
The critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked alongside local QAS paramedics and the Queensland Fire Department (QFD) to remove the man’s hand from the grinder.
The patient was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
