The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew tonight airlifted a woman to hospital after a car crash south of Mitchell.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 4.40pm and landed on a rural road near the scene.
Queensland Fire Department (QFD) firefighters extricated a woman in her 40s from the vehicle.
The critical care LifeFlight doctor and flight paramedic worked with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient for a fractured and dislocated ankle and broken ribs.
She was airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment.
The female driver of the vehicle in her 30s was treated at the scene by paramedics and road transported to Mitchell Hospital in a stable condition.
Tasked by Queensland Ambulance Service, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
