The LifeFlight Toowoomba-based aeromedical crew yesterday winched a man off a mountain after he hurt his ankle.
The rescue chopper was tasked to the Scenic Rim region at 12.06pm.
It’s believed the hiker, aged in his 30s, activated a personal distress beacon which alerted emergency services.
Other hikers on the mountain used a torch to signal the aircraft to the patient’s location.
The LifeFlight rescue crewman and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic were winched down to the patient where he was treated for a foot injury.
The hikers helped the patient get to the winching site, where the LifeFlight crew and man were winched back into the helicopter.
The man was airlifted to a grassy area at the base of the mountain to QAS paramedics, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers and State Emergency Service (SES) personnel.
