An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has winched an injured and dehydrated hiker from bushland, on the Sunshine Coast.
It’s believed the woman fell, injuring her lower leg, while on a several-hour bushwalk, which she began around 7am (Monday 4th October).
She also suffered heat exhaustion, with temperatures reaching around 38 degrees.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel hiked into the bush to help the woman, but it was decided she needed to be winched out.
The Sunshine Coast-based rescue chopper was called into action around 3pm.
The QAS Flight Paramedic was winched down to the woman and prepared her to then be hoisted up to the helicopter.
The woman, who is aged in her 50s, was airlifted in a stable condition and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
