Woman airlifted to hospital after car crash

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew airlifted a woman to hospital today following a two-vehicle crash in the South Burnett region.

The aeromedical team was tasked to the scene at about 9.30am and was able to land the chopper on the road close to the incident.

It is understood one of the vehicles was T-boned at an intersection, resulting in both vehicles being driven off the road.

The injured female driver, in her 20s, was cut from her vehicle by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

She was then treated by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics on scene and stretchered to the helicopter where she was intubated and flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
