Two RACQ LifeFlight Rescue choppers have each airlifted a child to hospital, after they were injured in a motorbike crash, at a motocross park, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, this afternoon (Sat 3rd April).
It’s believed, one motocross rider had attempted to make a jump, when he lost control and crashed.
Several other riders were behind him, including the pair airlifted by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, and were unable to avoid him, consequently colliding with each other.
The Sunshine Coast-based chopper was first to respond to the scene, followed by the Brisbane-based aircraft.
Both pilots were able to land their aircraft at the motocross park.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were at the scene, when the aeromedical teams arrived.
The Sunshine Coast aeromedical team treated a primary school aged male, who had suffered a serious head injury as a result of the accident.
He was stabilised and airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The Brisbane aeromedical team also treated a primary school aged male for pelvic injuries, he was also airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
