Rescue chopper makes beach landing to airlift injured woman

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a woman to hospital after a fall at a campsite.

The rescue chopper flew to a location near the scene, in the Noosa region, shortly before 9am (Sunday 18th Sept).

The pilot landed the helicopter on the beach and the aeromedical crew was then transported to the campsite by a Queensland Police Service (QPS) four-wheel-drive.

It’s believed the woman, aged in her forties, had been packing camp gear away on top of a vehicle when she fell.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic, worked alongside local QAS paramedics to treat the woman for a possible spinal injury.

After being stabilised, the woman was driven to the waiting rescue chopper in a QAS four-wheel-drive.

The patient was then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
