Rescue chopper airlifts man to hospital after truck rollover

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital after he was injured in a truck rollover in the Gympie region.

The aeromedical team was called into action just before 10am.

The pilot landed the chopper on the highway which had been closed by Queensland Police Service (QPS).

A team of Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel worked to free the driver from the cement truck which had landed on its side, spilling cement across the road.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic joined local QAS paramedics in treating the patient.

The man, aged in his 40s, had suffered lower limb and facial injuries.

He was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
