An off-duty LifeFlight doctor has helped emergency service officers, while an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was en-route, after he came across a three-vehicle crash, this afternoon.
The highly-experienced aeromedical doctor, LifeFlight’s Director of Clinical Services Mark Edwards, was on his way to Rockhampton, when he happened to arrive at the scene shortly after Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
It’s believed the crash, on a stretch of highway west of Bundaberg, involved a truck and two cars.
Dr Edwards worked with QAS paramedics to assess two patients, before the Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter arrived.
A man, aged in his 70s, was transferred to the chopper and flown to Bundaberg Hospital, in a stable condition.
He suffered a chest and arm injury.
