RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crews treat four motorcyclists in one weekend

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has treated four motorbike riders injured in separate crashes, this weekend.

A motorcyclist was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital this afternoon, after falling off his bike at a motocross track.

The rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene, north of Gympie, just before 4.30pm (Sunday 7 June).

The aeromedical crew, other emergency service personnel and other riders worked together, to carry the teenage patient on a stretcher down a steep slope, to the waiting helicopter.

The male was treated by the aeromedical crew and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, before being transported in a stable condition, with multiple trauma injuries.

Earlier today, the same RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew airlifted a rider, aged in his 70s, from an accident north of the Sunshine Coast.

Yesterday, the Sunshine Coast-based aeromedical crew treated two patients, injured in separate motorbike accidents, on the same property.

The crew was loading the first patient into the helicopter, when a second rider also crashed nearby.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor was able to start treating the second patient, while a QGAir helicopter flew to the scene.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter then airlifted the first patient to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
