Man airlifted by LifeFlight after skydiving incident

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a skydiver today after an incident in the Somerset Region.

It is believed the man in his 50s was preparing to land when the incident occurred, and he struck the ground with force.

The rescue helicopter crew was tasked to the scene at 11.30am where the man had sustained pelvic, chest and rib injuries.

The patient was treated by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, the LifeFlight critical care doctor and flight paramedic.

He was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
