The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has airlifted a child to hospital, after she was injured while riding a pushbike, on Saturday afternoon.
It’s believed the primary school-aged girl, had been riding with her family on their property when she fell down a steep two metre embankment.
The rescue chopper was called to the scene, in the Somerset region, around 12:30pm (Sat 16th April).
The aeromedical team worked alongside local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the child for facial injuries.
The young girl was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
With aircraft based in Roma and Toowoomba, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter service is fully funded by the four SGAS partners.
