LifeFlight airlifts two men after snakebite and ATV crash

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew attended back-to-back farming missions today.

In the first incident, LifeFlight was tasked at 8.42am to a property southwest of Gin Gin after a quad bike crashed into a tree.

The LifeFlight Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedic responded by road to treat the man, aged in his 40s, for a leg fracture.

The patient was then driven to a nearby helicopter landing zone on an adjoining property and flown by the LifeFlight aeromedical crew to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.

The crew were then tasked at 10.29am to a man in his 20s who had been bitten by a snake.

It is believed the man felt the snake bite him on the leg while cutting long grass and he drove two kilometers to his home before calling Triple Zero (000).

He applied a shirt as a makeshift bandage before local QAS paramedics and LifeFlight arrived.

QAS paramedics applied a pressure immobilisation bandage, gave him pain relief and splinted his leg.

He was driven to an awaiting LifeFlight helicopter and flown to Bundaberg Hospital for further treatment.
