An injured man incredibly managed to drive himself to a neighbour’s house and call for help, despite suffering broken ribs and a broken pelvis after being run over by a tractor, while working on a farm this morning.
The Sunshine Coast’s LifeFlight helicopter crew was tasked to the incident in the Gympie region just before 8.30am.
The pilot was able to land the aircraft on a nearby oval.
It’s believed the man, aged in his 40s, was working on his property when the tractor rolled, throwing him from the vehicle, which then drove over his legs and abdomen.
With multiple injuries, he still got back onto the tractor and drove to a nearby property to raise the alarm.
Local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were first on scene and transported the injured man to the rescue helicopter.
He was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic.
