Critically injured patient airlifted to hospital after head-on crash

The Sunshine Coast’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital, after she was critically injured in a head-on collision, in the Moreton Bay region.

It’s believed the woman was travelling in a car as the front-seat passenger, when the crash occurred.

She suffered multiple injuries, including to her face, abdomen and hip, as a result.

The rescue helicopter landed at the scene, after being tasked just before 11am.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic worked alongside teams of local QAS paramedics, who were treating multiple patients.

The injured car passenger, who is aged in her forties, was loaded into the chopper, before being flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

A Queensland Government Air Rescue helicopter was also tasked to the scene.
