Critically injured man airlifted after head-on collision

The Brisbane RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a man to hospital, after a serious head-on crash, this morning.

The rescue helicopter was sent to the scene, north west of the Gold Coast, around 11:45am.

It’s believed two cars collided on a stretch of highway, earlier in the morning.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) firefighters were all in attendance, when the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter arrived.

The Queensland Government Air (QGAir) helicopter was also called to the scene.

Brisbane’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical team treated a man, aged in his 60s, for serious upper body and head injuries.

It’s believed he had been driving one of the vehicles, involved in the collision.

He was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a critical condition.
