RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts injured swimmer

An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man, after he suffered suspected spinal injuries while swimming at a Sunshine Coast beach.

The Sunshine Coast-based chopper was tasked around 11.15 this morning.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics initially treated the man at the scene and transported him to a nearby clearing, to meet the aircraft.

The aeromedical crew stabilised the patient for the flight, before he was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He was flown in a serious but stable condition.
