LifeFlight airlifts woman after serious car crash

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a woman to hospital after a car accident.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 6.15pm to the Toowoomba Region after a woman in her 20s lost control of her car and crashed into the rear of a parked cattle truck.

The woman was trapped for close to an hour before being freed from her car by Queensland Fire Department firefighters.

The LifeFlight helicopter landed close to the scene of the crash, which was attended by the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Police Service (QPS).

The patient was treated on scene for significant lower leg and arm injuries as well as a suspected spinal fracture by the LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic.

She was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
