LifeFlight airlifts teenager after serious car and truck crash

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a teenager to hospital this morning after a car and truck incident at Cooroy.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 7am to the Sunshine Coast region after the male teenager’s car collided with a crane truck on the Bruce Highway.

Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers closed the northbound lanes of the highway and Queensland Fire Department firefighters cut the teenager from his car.

The LifeFlight helicopter landed on the highway close to the scene.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat him for life-threatening head and chest injuries.

The patient was intubated and flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) in a critical condition.
