Injured bushwalker winched to safety by LifeFlight

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a woman to safety, after she fell from a mountain, in the Sunshine Coast region.

The woman, who is aged in her 60s, was reportedly bushwalking near the base of the mountain when she lost her footing and tripped on a rocky part of the track.

The rescue chopper was called to the popular hiking area at 12:15pm (Sunday, 10th July).

Local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel were able to reach the patient and treat her for multiple lower limb injuries.

However, due to the difficult terrain, emergency services were unable to move her to safety.

It was decided a QAS Flight Paramedic would be lowered down to the injured bushwalker.

The woman was stabilised and put into a rescue basket, before being winched into the helicopter.

The patient was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
