Critically injured man airlifted after tree cutting incident

Toowoomba’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was critically injured while cutting down a tree, in the Goondiwindi region this afternoon.

The man was reportedly using a chainsaw, when the tree fell back onto him, causing him to fall and hit his head.

He suffered leg, abdomen and head injuries as a result.

The rescue chopper was called to the scene just before 12:30pm.

The helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on the private property, where the aeromedical team met with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel were also on scene.

The man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
