The south-west community raised a Roma-based record of $141,000 for LifeFlight at Friday night’s elegant hangar fundraiser.
Close to 200 locals walked through the hangar doors at the LifeFlight Lee Family and Australian Choice Centre for the third annual Canapés in the Cockpit fundraiser.
The premier aviation-themed charity event celebrated LifeFlight’s life-saving work across the south west and welcomed residents, regional business leaders and community members to raise money for the LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS).
The total eclipsed all previous fundraisers in Roma, with proceeds helping LifeFlight continue to be there for families, farmers, and visitors in the south west when needed most.
LifeFlight Regional Advisory Committee Chair Kate Scott praised the relentless dedication and philanthropic nature of the local community.
“This generous spirt and unwavering support of the Roma community is truly inspiring,” Mrs Scott said.
“Year after year, our region steps up to get right behind this helicopter service.
“To hit a record amount of over $141,000 in just our third year of this kind of fundraising shows how deeply our community values having world-class emergency medical care available right here on our doorstep when we need it most.”
The Roma-based LifeFlight crew attended the event on standby for missions dressed in their uniforms with the addition of bright yellow bow ties.
The evening featured a premium beverage package, gourmet canapes, live entertainment, and a fiercely contested live auction with incredible prizes including five nights’ accommodation in Noosa and a Jenie Fawckner painting –Â Summer Road.
One lucky LifeFlight supporter won an incredible $11,765 18ct yellow and white gold sapphire and diamond ring donated by a supporter and refurbished by Hogans Family Jewellers for the balloon pop.
