LifeFlight airlifts man after highway truck crash

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew this morning airlifted a man to hospital after a two-truck crash on the Bruce Highway north of Calliope.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 7.14am by Retrieval Services Queensland and landed on the road in West Stowe.

The incident was attended by multiple emergency services, including Queensland Police Service (QPS), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), and Queensland Fire Department (QFD) firefighters who freed the entrapped driver from one of the trucks.

The critical care LifeFlight doctor and QAS flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for face and leg injuries.

The man, in his 40s, was airlifted to Rockhampton Airport and road transported to Rockhampton Hospital by QAS paramedics in a potentially life-threatening condition.

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter and crew service the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
