The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew completed three back-to-back missions today including winching a fallen climber stranded overnight on Mt Beerwah.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 8.12am by Retrieval Services Queensland and located the male climber on the southern side of Mount Beerwah with Queensland Fire and Rescue mountain rescue firefighters.
The firefighters had spent the night with the patient after climbing down a vertical face to provide first aid, food and water. A drone was later deployed in the morning to deliver food.
The LifeFlight rescue crew officer (RCO) and a rescue capsule were winched down to the patient and firefighters where they had camped out on a cliff ledge.
The RCO, patient and mountain rescue equipment were winched back into the helicopter, which then landed at the base of the mountain.
The patient, who had sustained an ankle injury and was aged in his 20s, was handed over to Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and road transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
The crew was then tasked at 11.41am to Noosa North Shore after a teenage girl fell from a horse on a beach.
In a multi-agency response, the incident was attended by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics.
The critical care LifeFlight doctor and QAS flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for a dislocated kneecap.
She was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
The crew was then tasked at 3.34pm to a farm in Brooloo in the Gympie region after a motorbike incident.
The critical care LifeFlight doctor and QAS flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for suspected head and spinal injuries.
The man, in his 30s, was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
