The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today airlifted a man to hospital with severe burns after a cooking incident.
The helicopter was tasked at 8.55am by Retrieval Services Queensland to a rural area in the Bundaberg region and landed at a private property near the scene.
It is believed a man was frying bread when he tripped and fell, suffering the burns.
The critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for head and chest burns.
The helicopter airlifted the man, in his 50s, to the LifeFlight Brisbane base where the crew was met by QAS paramedics.
The patient was road transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.
The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter and crew service the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
