The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) aeromedical crew today airlifted a man to hospital following a two-vehicle crash.
The helicopter was tasked at 7.30am after a truck and ute collided on a highway at Gilla in the Toowoomba region.
A truck passenger in his 60s was trapped in the vehicle following the crash and extricated by emergency services.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics transported the patient to the LifeFlight helicopter waiting at a nearby sports field.
The man was treated for leg and pelvis injuries by the LifeFlight critical care doctor, flight paramedic and local QAS paramedics.
He was transported with life-threatening injuries to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Tasked by Queensland Ambulance Service, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
