Man winched from bushland after motorbike crash

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man to safety, after he was injured in a motorbike incident in the Fraser Coast region, yesterday morning.

It’s believed the man was riding his motorbike on a dirt road with his friend when he hit a fallen tree along the track.

The rider was reportedly thrown several metres into the air, landing a short distance away.

The rescue chopper was called to the scene, just before midday (Saturday, 11th February).

Once on scene, and due to the dense bushland, it was decided it was best to winch the patient out.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic were winched down to the ground, where the aeromedical crew treated the man for a broken arm, before preparing him to be hoisted up into the helicopter in a stretcher.

The man, who is aged in his 60s, was flown to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.
