Man airlifted after serious chainsaw accident

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a man to hospital after he was seriously injured in a chainsaw accident in the Southern Downs.

It’s believed the man, aged in his 70s, was using the chainsaw on a private rural property when the accident occurred, causing serious abdominal trauma.

The rescue chopper was called to the scene just before 9.30am.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot landed the aircraft on the property where the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight paramedic then worked alongside local QAS paramedics to treat the man.

He was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
