RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helps locate sinking vessel off Bundaberg

The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has worked with Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR), to locate and assist two people on board a sinking vessel, this morning.

The rescue chopper was called to search the coast, off Elliott Heads, just after 5am.

It’s believed Queensland Police Service (QPS) had been notified of a boat, with a hole in its hull, earlier in the morning.

QPS Water Police activated the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter, to find the vessel.

After a short time in the air, the rescue crew spotted the boaties and notified Bundaberg Volunteer Marine Rescue of the location.

The chopper hovered above the boat, until VMR arrived and assisted with a water pump, before they safely towed the vessel to Burnett Heads.
