The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a woman to hospital, after she was seriously injured in a crash, east of Gympie, early this morning.
The rescue chopper was called to the scene just after 6am.
It’s believed the woman had been driving along a road, when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The patient, aged in her 60s, was the sole occupant of the car.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers were in attendance, when the aeromedical team arrived.
The pilot was able to land the chopper in a paddock, close to the scene.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic worked alongside local emergency services, to treat the patient for serious head and upper body injuries.
She was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, in a serious condition.
