The rescue chopper was called to the vessel just after 10 o’clock this morning.
It’s believed the man, aged in his fifties, experienced a sudden medical episode last night.
He had already received treatment, in the ship’s medical centre, before the aeromedical team arrived.
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue’s winch operator initially lowered a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic and an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue officer down to the deck.
The helicopter then flew back to Burnett Heads and landed, while the QAS Flight Paramedic treated the patient.
Once the man was secured onto a stretcher, the chopper returned to the ship and winched the patient and flight paramedic up to the aircraft, followed by the rescue officer.
The man was flown to Bundaberg Hospital, in a serious but stable condition.
This is the second patient to be winched from a cruise ship, by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crews, in two weeks.
