Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Training

Enhance safety and capability with NVIS

Night Vision Goggles (NVG) are essential to enhance safety and efficiency during night operations. These head-mounted devices utilise advanced image intensifying technology to amplify ambient light, allowing better vision in low-light conditions, which increases the safety for crews and the ability to reach patients after dark.

This training course is designed to improve crew situational awareness and safety under Night Visual Flight Rules (NVFR). Soon after the NVG technology gained approval for civil application, LifeFlight received CASA approval to use NVG in our lifesaving helicopter rescue operations. Those skills are now mandatory for LifeFlight pilots and aircrew officers.

  • Understanding NVG technology and principles
  • Safety protocols and operational procedures for NVG use
  • Enhancing situational awareness and flight safety with NVGs
  • Practical applications in civilian helicopter operations

NVIS Training is recommended for:

  • Helicopter pilots and aircrew
  • Emergency medical service providers
  • Law enforcement and search and rescue teams
  • Aerial firefighting and support personnel
  • Marine pilot transfer operators
