Mum Liz and siblings Harriet and Toby Robinson have donated $18,000 to LifeFlight, in memory of her daughter and their sister Sally who died 32 years ago in a quad bike accident.
Sally Robinson tragically passed away just after she turned 18.
The Sally Robinson Memorial Bursary was created by then Miles State High School principal Dr Andrew Bode, who suggested instead of floral arrangements for Sally’s memorial service, donations could be made to a trust to support future students.
The Miles community and other individuals had donated generously to the trust and supported the family after their loss.
Sally was a special student – the dux of Miles State High School and school captain for her graduating year.
Over the years her bursary has helped 32 Year 12 students, including the daughter of a school friend of Sally’s.
“LifeFlight helicopters are able to go straight into the area to pick people up and it may have helped our daughter during her incident,” Mrs Robinson said.
“We moved to Toowoomba in 1998, and the idea to donate to the LifeFlight Roma base is because back then, that would have been our area.”
Sally’s legacy also lives on through the people she’s helped by donating her organs to the Princess Alexandra Hospital Transplant Unit.
The Roma SGAS helicopter, based at the Lee Family and Australian Country Choice LifeFlight Centre, helped 59 people in 2024.
