The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has located a broken-down vessel, after its crew activated an emergency beacon.
The rescue chopper was tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), shortly before midday, yesterday (Sunday February 21st).
The vessel was quickly located, north east of Bundaberg, after AMSA provided the coordinates of the beacon, to the rescue chopper crew.
Once overhead, the crew lowered a two-way radio to the boat so they could communicate with the skipper.
The skipper told the crew, that he had two passengers on board and the boat had been taking on water, after the motor stopped working.
He said they had since managed to stop the leak, however required a tow back to shore.
The rescue helicopter confirmed that a Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) boat was on its way to the stricken boat, before returning to base.
