Injured truck driver airlifted after multi-vehicle crash

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a truck driver to hospital, after he was trapped in a multi-vehicle crash, west of Hervey Bay.

The driver of a four-wheel-drive towing a camper trailer had reportedly attempted to avoid colliding with another vehicle.

The camper trailer then flipped and hit the truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Emergency services had to free the truck driver from his vehicle.

The rescue chopper was called to the scene just after 10:30, this morning.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic helped QAS paramedics at the scene to treat the man, aged in his 50s, for head injuries.

He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a stable condition.
