Kindy kids check out Mt Isa RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper

Some of the Mount Isa RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper’s youngest fans have been lucky enough to check out the inside of the helicopter and meet the crew.

The kindergarten children from the Julia Creek Early Learning Centre were given the memorable experience, on an excursion today, when the chopper flew to meet them at Alexendra Oval, in Mount Isa.

Mount Isa RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Base Lead Billy McCreadie said it was a fantastic opportunity to teach the kids about what the lifesaving service does.

“It’s nice to see the kids get so excited about our aircraft. You couldn’t wipe the excitement and awe off their faces when the chopper came into land,” he said.

“We really love meeting people in the community – it gives them a better understanding of who we are and what we do.”

Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic Sam Brind previously worked in Julia Creek and was thrilled to show off the aircraft he now works on.

“It’s vital that kids of all ages know the importance of calling triple zero in an emergency and are reassured by the arrival of paramedics, whether that be by helicopter or in an ambulance,” he said.

“With Christmas fast approaching and all the exciting activities which come with the holidays, I would encourage everyone to make sure they are familiar with how to call triple zero and don’t forget to download the Emergency Plus App.”
