A man has been airlifted to hospital, after he was hit by part of a falling tree, while he was wood chopping this afternoon. (Sun 2nd)
LifeFlight’s Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter was sent from its Toowoomba base to the scene, north west of Kingaroy, around 1pm.
The chopper landed close to where the incident happened and the LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Flight Paramedic joined QAS paramedics, who were already treating the man.
He had reportedly been chopping timber to be used for fire wood, when part of a tree he was cutting came down and hit him.
The patient, aged in his twenties, was stabilised for the flight, then airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital, suffering suspected spinal and other injuries.
The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
