RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter joins search for missing fisherman

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter is currently in the air, searching for a man who is believed to have fallen overboard from a fishing trawler.

The rescue helicopter was tasked by Queensland Police Service, just after 4:15am and has started searching an area, 80 kilometres off the Sunshine Coast.

It’s believed the trawler turned back to search for the man, after he first fell into the water.

Crew on board spotted him, but he reportedly disappeared again, before they were able to bring him aboard..

The rescue chopper is continuing the search.
