The rescue chopper was called to the scene, in the Lockyer Valley, just after 2pm.
It’s believed the patient, aged in his forties, was driving a car, which collided head on with a truck.
He was trapped in the vehicle for some time.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, were already treating the man, before the aeromedical team arrived.
Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel closed the road, so the chopper could land as close to the scene as possible.
QFES officers successfully cut the man free, before he was loaded into the LifeFlight SGAS aircraft.
He was flown to Toowoomba Hospital, in a serious condition, under the care of LifeFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and Flight Paramedic.
2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
